PROMOTES HEALING
Acupressure is essentially a method of sending a signal to the body (through spikes in our case) to “turn on” its own self-healing or regulatory mechanisms
RESETS YOUR FLOW
Qi (vital energy) circulates through natural pathways in the body called meridians. Acupressure Mat helps to correct functional imbalances and restore the flow thus returning the body to a more natural state of well-being
IMPROVES BLOOD AND PLASMA CIRCULATION
Acupressure mat boosts blood and plasma circulation, resulting in increased supply of oxygen and macro-nutrients to the muscles and organs
MELTS NERVOUS TENSION
Acupressure Mat activates your nervous system by releasing endorphins and oxytocin, the hormones responsible for improving the mood, and melting away your mental tension
What are acupressure mats and how do they work?
Acupressure mats are meant to work similarly to acupuncture, which is supposed to help balance the body, relieve pain, stress and more.
To understand it with any analogy, if acupuncture is ‘puncturing’ pressure points with fine needles, then acupressure is applying pressure non-invasively. Acupressure restores balance to the body’s natural energy flow (qi) by manipulating the body’s meridians. Stimulating energy, vitality and a sense of well-being in the body.
Acupressure mats kind of look like short yoga mats that have plastic spikes covering the surface that are designed to apply pressure at points throughout your body. Some of them also include a pillow that allows you to apply the pressure to your neck as you lie on the mat. And that’s exactly how they work — you simply lie on the mat for about 10-20 minutes for each acupressure session.
The origins of this healing technique dates back to the ancient Indian Yogis. Today we see its modern implementations. Surprisingly enough, it still works wonders!
How to use this Acupressure Mat?
Acupressure mats can take some getting used to. The spikes are sharp and can cause discomfort or pain for several minutes, before they start to warm up the body and feel good.
To get maximum results, use the mat each day for 10 to 20 minutes at a time. Remember to breathe and practice consciously relaxing your body.
- Choose the surface to put it on. Beginners often use the mat spread out on a bed or sofa. Intermediate and experienced users may move their mats onto the floor.
- Try sitting on it. You can also sit on or against the mat in a chair, so that your butt and lower back have direct contact.
- Start out with a layer between yourself and the mat. Wearing a light shirt or placing a thin fabric over the spikes may help you acclimate to the feeling of the mat. Users report that they get the best results when the mat is in contact with their bare skin, but don’t feel the need to go shirt-off right away.
- Lie down slowly. Lie down with your weight evenly distributed on the mat. This will help you avoid injury from the points.
- Reposition yourself carefully. Don’t fidget or move around on the mat, as you may more readily pierce or scratch your skin that way.
- Use consistently. Mats take getting used to, but really seem to work for many people. If this product appeals to you, stick with it and give it time to work.

Should I wear a shirt while using the mat?
It’s perfectly alright to wear a t-shirt or even place a thin towel, when you are staring out, as this reduces the intensity of the initial sensation. Once you get accustomed to the spikes and feel comfortable, then you can go ahead and use it on your bare skin for a more effective acupressure therapy.
How long should I use it for?
Acupressure Spike Mat for Back Relief can be used anywhere from a few minutes up to an hour, depending on your level of comfort is good. If you’re starting out anew, 5-10 minutes at a time is a great start. For best results, the ideal session length is 20-25 minutes.
Can this Acupressure Mat hurt my skin?
When used correctly, the Mat will never pierce or hurt your skin. Always lie gently and carefully on the mat for an even distribution of pressure. Just do not move around or drag it across your skin because that could result in skin injury.
